Computers and Gaming!

Hello all!

Great forum you guys have going on here some really helpful stuff!

I just recently moved to Aarau from England after graduating from university for work and I am looking to buy a new PC. Does anyone know any good websites or places to go for this? To be a bit more specific I need a good PC for gaming!

Is there an English gaming community out there?! Would be cool to meet up for some English Swiss LAN parties! Aarau doesnt seem like the place for too many gamers but if your out there give me a shout !

Here is the link to said thread.

While the start is a few years old, the more recent pages are of course, more recent posts.

Re: Computers and Gaming!

www.stegcomputer.ch are very good and supply english format computers i tried the german operating system but with words longer than the screen i gave up and went back to english. Also www.dell.ch do english format computers. BUT with england being so cheap due to exchange rate i would buy one there and just change the power cord.

Re: Computers and Gaming!

Presently (well planned to over the last year) I'm looking at Digitec for an i7 930 based system with perhaps a couple GeForce GTX 460. Should be able to power through anything out there (and hopefully play Crysis 2 at hi-res when it comes out).

Prices are pretty decent for such a set up.

The 460 is noisy !!. It draws far too much power, even at idle. A pair of those , even watercooled will make quite a hum. The heat off those cards will have your MB sweating... Have you seen or heard such a rig ? You will end up having to upgrade the case for larger and more fans, probably having to WC the cards and then playing with earphones on. If I were you |I would wait for Crysis 2 to come out and see what cards are better suited. Most Hi-Res benchmark crowns belong to a single 5970 at the moment. Perhaps a better option.

Re: Computers and Gaming!

Just resurrecting this post, as I am a long term girl gamer, and I am missing the warmth of my UK gaming community.

If anyone has the same interests please PM me, and we can set up some PSN / PC (soon to be XBoxing) action soon..... Oh and the PC gaming is on a standstill until I build another, as my PC motherboard got damged in transit

Sad to hear about your loss. I built here after about a year and a half, not the powermachine I anticipated, but room for upgrades.

This week Portal 2 comes out. Very excited!

I will use the steam pass for the PC later.
