Re: Miele fridge broken. Swiss customer service?

Did he make any attempt to fix it or tell you that it couldn't be fixed? If not, why pay the bill? If he tried and it can't be fixed he should have told you, so you can then get a new fridge and they would be due payment for services rendered. But if he didn't tell you it was unfixable or made no attempt to fix it, then complain like hell and withhold payment for services not rendered.

I have a Miele Fridge with separate fridge (cooler) and freezer sections. The fridge started to produce a lot of water which collected under the salad tray just two years after buying the fridge and out of warrenty.

A Miele service man came, looked at the water and told me that the fridge is collecting water under the salad tray, went away and I received a bill. The fridge still produces the water. I don`t know why and of course I had to pay the bill.
Fridges do produce some water from condensation and slight icing on the inside back wall, which then melts and runs down.
Near the bottom (but above the salad tray) of the back wall is a collection groove, with a hole in the middle (where the water drains in small amounts and evaporates due to heat from the compressor).

Sometimes this hole becomes blocked and water can't drain away and overflows from the groove to collect in the bottom of the fridge.
You can check if the hole is blocked by poking something like a pencil through it.

However any engineer worth their salt should have checked this.

Our fridge came with a little plastic thing already in the hole for just this purpose. I just wiggle it around from time to time and have never hasd a problem with water in the fridge. (It's not a Miele though)

Re: Miele fridge broken. Swiss customer service?

Another question: has any of you had experience with warranty for Miele devices bought abroad (EU)?

As far as I have been told, if bought abroad warranty cannot be claimed here in Switzerland.

Any suggestions?
