| | Want to post a big parcel, post Office says it is too big
I bought my dad a special hand made gift for his 60th birthday, had to buy a special box to fit it in 120x90x70 we have taken it to Austria, and Switzerland to try and post it, but they say it is too big they won`t take it. Another company wanted over 250frcs to send it . Does anybody know how i can transport this to the UK please driving me mad.
Thanks

1) where does GG go to (area) ?
2) where does your dad live ?
if the two are not compatible ParcelForce or perhaps a local delivery service can step in.
it will probably cost you but how often does your dad turn 60 ?

It could be as cheap as CHF85 through the Post Office: http://www.swisspost.ch/post-startse...kalkulator.htm
Don't know why the Post Office in your area refused it - I have sent way larger parcels abroad using Swiss Post without issues.

You could always fly there yourself and check it in as odd-sized luggage.
Cheers,
Nick

I also can't figure out why they say the pack it too big. On the website it give a price up CHF100-150ish for packages that size up to 30kg. How much does it weigh?

Using the calculator and using your dimensions, and by putting in 2 kg for example, for the weight (that is the question of course) it would cost 89.-chf at the most I should think.
Anyone that takes it and delivers it personally or even in the near vicinity would also need to expect the petrol money, so I doubt you would save much in the long run.
Die Post, will be your best bet and then you have a certain amount of assurance that it will get there and no complaints.

But of course you'll have to wrap a jacket around it, attach a pair of trousers on one end and a large sombrero on the other. Just tell them it's your eccentric uncle returning home from a holliday.. | The following 2 users would like to thank for this useful post: | |
