Hello EF, I am hoping one of you may be able to help me out. I am emailing back and forth with someone I would like to interview for a nanny position, but she informed me that her working permit has expired.

If I like her, am I able to hire her with an expired work permit? If not, is it her responsibility to get the work permit or am I supposed to get it for her? Or does she have to be employed before she is able to get a work permit? Can she work with out a work permit?

Sorry for all the questions, but I don't really understand the details of who is responsible for the work permit.

It all depends on where the prospective employee comes from.

I do believe your local Gemeinde will have the necessary forms for her and you to fill out. She will need a photostat copy of her Swiss visa.
