Searching for job while on visit/tourist visa
 
Hi,
I hope you all are doing well.
I am seeking for your advice regarding my career situation and I hope you can help me out;

I am currently living in the UAE and working in bank as an IT Systems Engineer, I have more than 5 years experience in my field and I carry a good number of international certificates in the IT. I am originally from Egypt.
The thing is I have been thinking seriously to move to Switzerland and I am so excited about the idea. However I am not very sure how much the chances to find a good job there.
I have searched in many recruiting websites and I found the IT jobs posting there I would be very qualified for this kind of jobs.

I was thinking to take a leave for a month and come for a visit or tourist visa and search for a job, but not very sure if that would be enough to hunt a nice job!

I would really appreciate your kind advice.

If you are not from EU there is very little chance of you getting a job. Only if the role can't be filled by a Swiss or an EU, would the role go to someone outside. If you were working for a company and they transferred you to Switzerland is another way.

I know it's hard Mido, as well as dissapointing. I tryed to help my friend from Canada to get a foot in the IT-Door in Switzerland and I do agree with Already packed.

The agencies like ELAN, Stamford won't do because it is too complicated. They advised me to try directly at the source. I would try Néstles IT-Services (their Name is Nestec) in Vevey, as I would also try UBS, Credit Suisse and Julius Bär.

Don't give up just yet, it's not impossible. It's harder for a non-EU to get a place but if you have experience and qualifications then it's certainly not impossible. There are plenty of non-EUs working in IT, especially in the big cities like Zürich.

But I'd recommend you do as much as you can from the UAE rather than arrive here and then start looking - you can do your applications and telephoning right now and talk to the people offering the jobs you've seen, see what's available and do your preparations. Then you can arrange to come and stand a much better chance of lining something up.

I really appreciate your respond. you make me have hope again.
I will do that and will try to contact the companies that posting jobs at http://www.jobup.ch/en and hopefully they will give me some positive feedback. I will keep you updated

Do you think it is better to come there on visit or tourist visa? or both are worst anyway? :D
