Confused on permit types etc

Hi,

I need some help/advise on a few things, I am a British citizen, planning to move to Zurich by begining March this year, my boyfriend is swiss and already lives in Zuriich.

What is the easiest route to take for a permit to live and work over here? I will only start looking for a job when I move in march, is it possible to be granted a permit before I have an employment contract?

Also can I move all my household content to zurich without a permit or work contract?

I read somewhere that you can get a permit if you are able to prove you have enough money to support yourself, is this true? if so how much money do you need to have?

I have read through some of the threads and am still a bit confused as it is not very clear.

Would really appreciate your help.

Thanks

Re: Confused on permit types etc

Your case looks pretty straightforward compared with most situations on here. I regret to say that if you find the information you've already found confusing, you'll probably find any answers to your post no less so.

I'd try Googling 'work permits Switzerland' and look at official documentation.

You can get a job seekers B permit immediately upon arrival.

Swiss Bob's answers are, I might add, the exception to the rule; they make sense, they can actually be understood and they are very, very rarely inaccurate. Thank you sir!

Hi I'm pretty much in the same situation (moving to Zurich to move in my German boyfriend who's studying there from this September), I asked a million people how much money you need to support yourself and didn't get anywhere!

In the end I emailed the Immigration office in Zurich, and they sent me a link to this site, which allows you to see how much money you need.

http://www.vof.ch/documents/Berechnu...01.01.2009.pdf

I'm a little unclear about the form (even though it looks really simple) so I've emailed back asking for more info!

As we're EU, we don't need to personally have a certain amount of money in our bank accounts, IF someone, who does have enough money in the bank, writes a letter agreeing to financially support us during our stay in Switzerland. I think I'll need to get my parents to do this!

Hope this helps .

This is link with the most detailed information on permits imaginable (in German). I'm not sure if you speak German or not, but in any case maybe get your bf to read through this and it might clear a few things up.

My bf is swamped with Uni work so I just emailed the Immigration office again and asked direct questions, as I'm not used to legal German and to be honest, reading it was a pain in the...
