Help! Registration Bad Info from HR

When I arrived from the USA to Switzerland with my regroupment visa, I asked my spouse's HR rep if I needed to do anything else. He said no the visa is all I need. I trusted the fool and now find out that I should have registered with the local office within 14 days of my arrival. Well, its way past that. So does anyone know the penalties for not registering right away. I plan to register just don't want to be shocked when they fine me a ton of money or kick me out of the country. Does anyone know what I should except?

Re: Help! Registration Bad Info from HR

Well you've got to register anyway, so just go along to your Kreisburo (Registration office) and explain the situation. As you have a visa I'm pretty sure all that will happen is that your permit will just be backdated to your entry date.

I have to admit that I was in Switzerland for 3 months before I registered. I thought it was OK to stay the 90 days as a tourist and then register. I was told this was wrong, but had no problems registering. I am however EU, so I don't know if that had any bearing on it.

Re: Help! Registration Bad Info from HR

I had a similar situation and was fined 50CHF by the Kriesburo...my flatmate in the exact same situation didn't get fined.
