Good news but I would question a couple of things....

Same project? Not just the same employer?

So you have to spend 5 years on a restricted B and then will go straight to a settlement permit. Sounds a bit iffy to me.

Did you get it in writing?

Sorry for incomplete information earlier. as per the integration authorities the condition precisely was that "as long as one work for same employer , project and employer is ready to extend contract, there should not be any problem getting B Permit extension."

on second point I was informed that as per new immigration law from 2008 onward one can apply for C permit after completing 5 years with in switzerland. off course the prerequisite for C permit in addition to 5 years is status of successfull integration with in switzerland.

it was not in writing though but I checked with couple of family friends and they got the C permit after 5 years.

BTW its St. Gallen Kanton. It is also described in St. Gallen kantonal website.

But as of now I am just waiting for my current extension after which I will be completing 5 years so fingures crossed till I get my ext.

And what exactly means integration.. I guess just having German language skills upto A2 level should not be sufficient .. anything else you need ...
