Work options for American wife of EU national

Hello,

This is my first post and after a fair amount of searching and reading, I can't seem to find an answer in past (recent) topics so please feel free to link me if this has been addressed.

I am an American currently living in Germany. My (German) husband and I married 3 years ago. His job is sending him to Basel at the end of this year for a 3 year period. Before we agree to this, I have a few questions on how this effects me in a practical sense. I saw the sticky thread that says EU spouses can work but I've also seen a lot of people having trouble finding work outside of the pharma IT industries. Also, the link is old and no longer works so I was unable to read the actual laws on this.

I am not short of qualifications (BS Marketing, BS International Business, MBA, currently a PhD student) but don't have more than 2 years actual full time work experience and therefore lack that speciality skill. Will my degrees help me in getting permission to work? Am I worrying about nothing because my husband's status guarantees my permission to work?

If we were to live in Germany, could I work in Basel? I have permission to live and work in Germany but feel Basel presents more job opprutunities in the region.

Finally, his company mentioned he could have a German or Swiss contract, does anyone have experience comparing the two? Would this have an effect on my visa status?

As the wife of an EU national in Switzerland you have the right to work. Period.
