B-permit problem

Hello.
I got one problem with my B-permit.
My b-permit is undergoing the process of the renewal,
however i have to go to United Kingdom for urgent matters.
The problem is, I am a non-EU.

Will there be problem that I leave and re-enter back to Switzerland?
Can i still presenting my "old" b-permit?
Thank you very much.

Re: B-permit problem

You need to go to your canton's Migrationsamt office and request a "re-entry" visa. Ask them the same question you have posted on the forum and they will be able to help you.

I was in your situation last year when my L permit was being renewed (Non-EU, L permit) and I had to go for business in Paris. Migrationsamt issued a re-entry visa on my passport (it took 10 minutes and I think 70 CHF).

Hope this helps.

Sam

Re: B-permit problem

If you can enter the country without a visa as a tourist, you can enter without any permit. If you come from a country with a visa requirement, than you need a visa.

So easy.

Re: B-permit problem

Thank you very much everyone
I am holding a British National (Overseas) passport and Hong Kong passport.

Does it means that I don't need to pay and get the re-entry visa?

I wouldn't be 100% sure of this. I don't need a visa to enter as a tourist, but was advised to get a reentry visa when I was in OP's situation.

They scan your passport when you enter Schengen and can see that you're living in Switzerland and you're not a tourist, so you need to produce a valid document (permit or a visa) in order to reenter. Otherwise there may be problems... it's not that much money for peace of mind.

ETA: While my permit was being renewed, I got a piece of paper from the immigration office. The paper served as a temporary permit, but was not valid for traveling (within or outside of Schengen).

Re: B-permit problem

I had to pay as well. Maybe it's up to the kanton whether they charge for this or not?

Re: B-permit problem

I met the similar situation, and my husband was staying in Switzerland. He did scan the new permission and emailed to me. I got into Custom by this printed file.

Re: B-permit problem

I am in similar siutation. Could any one help me

1. what are documents required for re-entry visa
2. costs for Zurich canton ( is re-entry visa free while your permit is under extension or is it 93 CHF as mentioned in above posts)
3. Is re-entry visa given immediately these days? ( some of old posts do mention that it is given immediately)

thanks for your inputs.

1. No docs required, just the old permit
2. In Geneva it's free of charge
3. Yes, you take it immediately, just make sure to have a photo with you, have to meet their requirements.
