I have been through many threads but I couldnt find an exact answer for my question.

The situation is as follows:
A friend of mine is studying at a master programme in Lausanne, EPFL and currently working in Geneva for her internship which is required by university education.

She is a non EU member and she is wondering if it is possible:
a) to work with the student B permit visa in Geneva (although EPFL is based in Vaud)
b) to live in Geneva canton with the student B permit from Vaud?
