not sure any of you here have tried to obtain a malaysian visa in switzerland before. we are travelling to KL in april for holiday, and i have requested from the Malaysian embassy in Bern on the process and fee. They came back to me very quickly and gave me a list of documents i need and also the form. Very pleased with their professionalism.
however, since i live in geneva, i asked if it is possible to get the visa in geneva instead of bern, and they said yes and gave me the number to call in Geneva which is the malaysian consulate section. I called them, and the guy who talked to be was extremely rude, and told me that i need to go to the consulate to pick up the form and the list of documents required and make an appointment two weeks later to apply for visa. I told him that i already have the documents needed and the application form, he got upset, and increased his voice, and repeated his rule again. I asked why they have a different policy and process than their own embassy in bern, he got even more upset, and said, this is our rule here. goodbye and hang-up!.

not the best first impression of the country!! anyone got any idea?

Sounds like you were talking to a clerk, not Malaysia. Just go to the consulate with your paperwork and get your visa.

i am certainly not sure who i talked to, based on experience, malaysian people are friendly and welcoming. this guy is very rude!
how can the same government agency have two processes???

They probably are not as precise in their processes as you would like, but you can probably get your visa stamped in 15 minutes, if they wanted to do it for you, so proceed courteously.

Most embassies and consulates are staffed by local employeesm and may not even be Malaysian. It sounds like the guy was not able to think, so simply parroted what he was trained to say. I wouldn't make a big deal of it.
