Visa within 14 days of arrival?

Hi all,

Quick question; I have been here in Switzerland for a couple of weeks now come Monday, and I've yet to apply for my working visa. I have all the docs for this, but the question is, when I go to the local town hall, I noticed, just now, it's supposed to be within 14 days. That will be exactly 14 days since I arrived.

Is it thought that would be a problem? Do they check, should I (deep intake of breath) tell an untruth about the day I arrived - to say, 13 days ago?

Not sure it's a big deal - thoughts welcome.

cheers,
Iain

Re: Visa within 14 days of arrival?

I arrived in July 2009 and only officially applied for my first permit in late November. I, like you, was unsure how they would react seeing as my three month tourist visa had "expired" a few weeks before. I put my official date of entry as sometime in September. They never asked me for proof or even asked me any questions other than what was on the form I had to fill out.

I am however an Eu citizen so that may or may effect things depending on your personal situation. Either way I doubt it will be a big deal.

Re: Visa within 14 days of arrival?

So I went to Allschwil Gemeindsssssssssomething or other, and by 'eck were they lovely.

Open until 7 in the evening of a Monday, no queues, and sorted it all out there and then.

When asked about when I arrived, I said, "er, about 10 days ago", the lass looked me in the eye and said, "ok, how about we say 1st March"? Really friendly with it too.

Got some free tram passes and maps to the local area as well. O to the M to the G.

Imagine the same scenario in the UK. No Jack Palance.
