| | Travel to Schengen countries on a B permit
Hi,
Hope it's been a good week for you all!
I'm sorry if this has been asked before and I did scout other threads but either they were outdated or did not answer my specific query.
Please reply to clarify this for me. Thanks in advance.
I recently received my residence B permit, post marriage. My husband is Italian. I am an Indian passport holder. My B permit allows me to work. I have recently signed a contract for a job. My job requires me to travel extensively in the EU.
Does my B permit allow me to travel to other Schengen countries without a visa?
I am aware that if I go to the UK or the US, I need a visa. I'm applying for a US visa as we speak to go there for a week of training for my job.
Thanks.

Yes it does ( am also no-EU B permit holder ). Don't depend on it solely though, make sure your travel document ie passport is brought along.
From my experience, showing them a Swiss issued Residency Card ( Euro Compatible Credit Card format ) gets you waived by with ease - with almost no issues when traveling by train.

Yes, but like jrspet said... always keep your passport on you! They rarely ask for it on the trains but if you are boarding a flight (inter Schengen), they will ask for your passport as well.

Which is why where possible, I tend to travel by train ( ok - boat too ) and avoid flying |

Well I made the mistake of not carrying my passport with me and almost missed my flight :P... cuz they wouldn't allow me to board the flight. However, thanks to an awesome, cute immigration officer, I was finally allowed to board, but then what are the odds of bumping into the same immigration officer again? |
