Partner visa

Hi,

Me and my fiancee are trying to find a way to have her sponsor me in order to be able to move to Switzerland(right now I am here with her). She has a C permit and I am a Romanian and American citizen. What are the steps that we can follow in order to get myself a legal status here(not just tourist visa) especially that we are planning on the long run..
Thanks

Re: Partner visa

Ask to your local registration office. Whatever anyone else tells you, it wont be accurate due to your country of origin. It is possible if one is working and living in switzerland, the other to get a C or a B visa, depending on your circumstances.
Marriage is one solution.

Would you like to give some examples based on the OP's circumstances?

Re: Partner visa

Well, we did decide to get married. Not for the permit actually, but that was kind of a bonus. However, as the rules are getting more lax (esp. for new-EU citizens), I bet this has all changed. But, just to give you an idea, this is how we did it. And I was able to stay like 3 months extra before the wedding (on top of my 2x180 days). I have friends who got a sort of fiance visa without getting married. The guy (HUN-CH citizen) signed a paper saying he'll support her, she kept her Hungarian insurance, etc. and she got a one-year non-working B. But she found a job within the year and got her permit updated without much hassle. Might be worth a try.
