Facilitated naturalization whilst on unemployment benefit

foolish? Someone one at work (I'm on a work experience placement) commented that I should apply asap before the elections. I'm currently looking for a job and am signed up with the RAV. Just wondering whether it's sensible to apply now or whether this would be a huge black mark against me. Any thoughts?

Elections are simply that, electing fresh politicians. Your ex-colleagues are pulling your leg, it takes years to change the laws here. Just concentrate on finding a decent job and then apply. Unemployment is a part of modern life, and I think today everybody realises it usually isn't the worker's fault.

That's a bit of a blanket statement and it's not really correct. There are plenty of people who don't work who are eligible for citizenship.

Yes eligible. But as long as one is getting Social help ( unemployment benefits) they will not get citizenship.

That's not what you wrote. You wrote a job is "Its a prerequisite", and it's not. And I'm not sure that's exactly correct either because unemployment and "social help" are not the same thing. Unemployment is part of an insurance you pay into. Social help is different.

Do you have a link to support that statement?

Yes you are correct. By social help I am not meaning unemployment benefits.
