I'll have to renew my permit in about 2 months. I'm non-EU, came to Switzerland in summer 2009, never changed a job and have an unlimited contract in my current company. Now I have an L permit.

As far as I know the maximum time on L permit can't exceed 24 months. After that the either B one should be issued or my contract should be terminated.

Does anybody have any other examples? An experience in canton ZH is mostly interesting.

I had the same situation (non eu, unlimited contract, kanton ZH), and got a B permit after 2 years on L. So you should get a B this time if the authorities accept that you stay working in Switzerland.
