Any issues on delayed de-registering from one canton?

Quick question - we moved to Nyon (canton VD) from Geneva nearly a month ago and only just got our new B permits from Canton Vaud. I was told we couldn't de-register in Canton GE unless we sent our permits from GE back, but since I travel frequently, I didn't want to send them in without having the new ones first.

I finally sent the GE permits back to GE and de-registered, a month after we left - does anyone envisage us having any issues with GE for de-registering with them so late? Like a fine? Sternly worded letter? Being blackballed? Thanks!
