My parents want to visit me during June for 55 days.

Can anyone help me telling the
Visa type that I need to apply : Visitor or Tourist
Exact list of documents which my parents and I need to provide to Delhi Consulate.
Processing time that Embassy takes
Do's and Dont's

Thanks Longbyt.I have gone through the entire list but its a bit confusing.I want to be doubly sure before sending the documents to consulate so I am hoping there is someone who has called his/her parents to Zurich when he/she was/is on L permit...You know what we call "First hand experience".

When they apply for a visa at Delhi , they will require:
- Your invite letter stating the duration that they will stay with you (including dates), that you will take care of their finances in switzerland
- Attach your apartment rent copies
- Attach your last 6 months bank statements
- Your current permit copies (L Permit)
- Your passport first and last pages
- Your employment certificate (stating your current details of location, salary etc)

You also will need to fax the same invite letter (only) to Delhi embassy from here (Switzerland), the same time they send their papers for visa.

- Also make sure that their return date (or 55 days) end well before your L Permit expiry.

- If any of your parents is in government service currently then they will also need a NOC (No Objection Certificate) while applying for a visa.

I'm also non-EU on L permit. My mother wanted to visit us and we sent the invitation letter. The embassy sent us guarantee form to fill which only included check-boxes for C and B permit. Although we met the financial requirements, ultimately her visa was denied!

We didn't file a complaint as I imagined it would be a waste of time...

Generally a letter stating the exact reason of refusal is sent to the applicant in case someone's visa is refused. Considering that reason and sending the documents mangi1974 has stated(assuming your mother is in India), you can give it another try. If you are hesitant, why don't you call them and ask what exactly is required. Good luck.

Thanks. I'm not from India though the situation is almost the same. The embassy didn't ask for any other document besides the invitation letter. Later they sent me a guarantee form to take to the police along with all the documents that mangi1974 mentioned. As for the reason for denial of visa, the embassy gave her a form with this item ticked: "l'objet et les conditions du séjour envisagé n'ont pas été justifiés." (the purpose and conditions of the planned visit were not justified). They just mentioned that there was problem with my guarantee (didn't specify what). Since police confirmed that I met the financial criteria, I only assume the reason for denial was the type of permit.
