Confirmation of police clearance certificate

Hi,
My husband and I applied for and obtained police clearance certificates. However, I am not too sure if this is actually the police clearance or a document we were given in order to obtain the PCC.
I am not in Switzerland at the moment and my husband is not very good in French. So I was wondering if anyone here could help me clarify this.

The docment was issued by the department of security, polic and environment of the Geneva canton.
Basically it is an attestation and gives our details (name, dob, civil status, place of birth and current address in Switzerland).

Then it says "Réside sur le territoire de notre canton depuis 5 Janvier 2009 (date indiquée par l'intéressé).
L'intéressé est actuellement au bénéfice de l'exemption de tout titre de séjour."

What has me worried is that they say the date from which we are in the canton is the one indicated by us. If this was the actual police clearance, wouldn't they have confirmed this?

Hope someone can help us on this.
Many thanks,
M

Re: Confirmation of police clearance certificate

That document says that you have been living in Switzerland since January 2009 (as indicated by you) and that you do not need a residence permit of any kind.

What is this document intended for? If you thought it was an "Extrait du Casier Judiciaire" (an extract from your criminal record), then there is an important bit missing (whether you actually have a criminal record). It sounds more like an "attestation de domicile" to me (certificate of domicile).

If you do happen to want an "Extrait du Casier Juridique" (Criminal Record Check), and you have a credit card, you can order one online here:

https://www.e-service.admin.ch/crex/...afregister_en/

From memory you get e-mailed a form that you have to sign and return with some photocopied ID, then they post your certificate.

Also see here for more information, including how to get one of the above if you don't have a credit card:

http://www.bj.admin.ch/content/bj/en...fregister.html

Otherwise, I agree, it sounds like an Attestation de Domicile.

And a Google search seems to indicate that what you want (if you have been told to get a Police Clearance Certificate) is the Extrait du Casier Juridique... at any rate when I googled 'Police Clearance Certificate Switzerland' those were the links that came up!

I ordered one recently from this site and all the text is printed in five different languages, including English.
