I read plenty of threads here to see if this has been covered, but couldn't find it anywhere. Apologies if I missed it.

This summer I finish my studies of 2 years in CH and my Permit B expires. I'm a UK citizen and would like to stay here to see if I can get work. So I'm wondering, can I request the 3+3 months job-seeking Permit? As I understand, EU citizens can ask for the 3 months "tourist" stay plus another 3 months to seek employment, but I was wondering if it is different for people who have already been here as a student. For example, would I have to leave the country and then come back, or can I just go to the canton office and ask them to organise it for me?

Just to add, my girlfriend/fiance will be here next year on a Permit B and we will be living together...I have health insurance, place of residence, adequate funds etc already organised

I have a related question: My student permit expires in June but I'd like to stay for another month to hang out and do "tourist" things. Should I leave the country and then come back as a tourist? Or can I just tell the authorities that I'd like to stay for a few extra weeks after my carte de sejour expires?
