resident registration office in geneve?

Hi,
I'm living in Geneve with my girlfriend and I'm the only one with a job, however I still have not signed contract, even though I'm sure I will be signing it within the next few days.
-Do we need to register for any kind of residence permit?
-Where in Geneve do we register?
-What documents do we need to present?
We live in Les Acacias (Carouge area) and we've been here for just a little over a month. We are sub letting my mates flat.
Thank you for any information on this matter given.

Re: resident registration office in geneve?

You should have registered in the first 10 days. Maybe you need to catch a bus to France and come back to Switzerland and start again?

You have to register here, you need your rental contract and an employment offer or contract: http://geneva.angloinfo.com/countrie...and/moving.asp

Re: resident registration office in geneve?

10days?
On other posts some people mentioned 14days.
I had a residence permit within my first week when living in Sion and now moved to Geneve. Perhaps I only need some kind of transfer...?
My girlfriend has only been here 7days, however I cant see how anyone could possibly know exactly when she arrived here.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean about catching a bus to France... and do what there??

Re: resident registration office in geneve?

You don't need to go to france.
Are you working already? Why don't you have the contract yet?

If you've started work already you should have registered. If you are waiting to start work you can be here for 90 days as a tourist.

If I were you I'd go down to the commune and tell them you want to register but you don't have the contract yet & you are subletting (btw, you should have a contract for this) and see what they say. They will either register you, or ask that you come back with the work contract.
