Max length on restricted B?

I read from some non-official sources and keep on hearing about it, but I'm wondering if someone can confirm with perhaps a link to the official source (sorry, my German is poor ) that "Restricted B permits are limited to a maximum of 3 years." or if "Restricted B permits limited to a maximum of 2 years." Or is there some kind of rules somewhere to determine whether restricted B permits are limited to a maximum of 2 or 3 years? or is there no such limit?

I know in the Sticky, it says "annual short term B" is limited to max of 3 years and in certain cases 6 years, but there are quite some people with restricted B of 2 years only, so I'm a bit confused.

Thanks lots in advance.

Re: Max length on restricted B?

Hi there,

I don't know what the official line is, but I have 2 friends who have been here for over 5 years on a restricted B permit.

Is it possible that they were first on an L for a few years?
