Student Visa - liquid assets needed?
Hello everyone,
Love this forum, first of all.
I'm a Canadian student; I recently applied to do my Masters at the University of Zurich, and am waiting to hear back from them.
In the meantime, I'm looking into visa application procedures.
One of the documents you need to submit is "A statement containing exact details of income and assets, with official proof and/or bank statements (2 copies each)."
Why is this needed?
I'm guessing that you need to prove you can support yourself while studying in Switzerland, so you need to show how much money you have.
The question is, how much DO you need to have in order to be accepted?
I've read that 100 francs/day is recommended, but is that what's required for a student visa?
I don't have much money, and was planning to support myself partially by working part-time while in Switzerland. My family offered to put a whack of money in my account just for the purpose of obtaining the visa (after which they would take it out again), but that seems like it could lead to trouble....
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
All the best,
Juliet
