Earliest renewal of your permit

In Canton ZH, it is 3 months prior to the expiry of your current permit, as re-confirmed by Migrationsamt today:

Referenz-Nr. : ZH XXXXXXX

Sehr geehrter Herr XXXXXXX

Sachbearbeitung Publikumsverkehr

Migrationsamt des Kantons Zürich
Berninastrasse 45
8090 Zürich
Telefon: +41 (0)43 259 88 00

I thought this might be useful for those needing the new permit as early as possible.

Re: Earliest renewal of your permit

Hi Jrspet

Thanks for the info.

I believe this 3 months is for renewing your Ausweis if you have a valid permit for the upcoming year.

Any idea, when is the earliest you can apply before expiry of your current permits if you have to apply for a new work permit ?

Thanks in advance for the info.

Re: Earliest renewal of your permit

Work permit and residence permit is lumped into a single permit, and one may apply as early as 3 months prior to the expiry of the current one.

Apply to your local commune and pay the full fee, and go over to the Migrationsamt for the biometrics.

Re: Earliest renewal of your permit

For a renewal in normal course of time, you should get a form from the immigration department of your canton. The renewal time varies between 2-4 months depending on your Canton. If you don't have a biometric ID card, you may need longer.

Re: Earliest renewal of your permit

Hi

I have a Biometric Ausweis currently ( Non EU, B ).As i quoted earlier,my Work permit initially issued for 3 years expires by end of June 2012. So how well in advance should i apply for a new work permit? Will i get a notification from Migration Office? Will i be issued a new work pemit or is it just a renewal of Ausweis again? If i get a new work permit issued , is this subject to quota ?

Thanks in advance.

You did the entire renewal process yourselves and not by your employer? I think it does depend on the type of B Permit too?

Re: Earliest renewal of your permit

Your Gemeinde should issue the paperwork. We had some 'administrative' issued when we moved Gemeinde within the renewal period (one assumed the other had done the paperwork already)...

Otherwise, the special papers should just turn up in your letterbox....

Re: Earliest renewal of your permit

Hi all,

Im a Non-Eu, L permit holder, with a permanent contract.

My L permit will hit the maximum of 24 months later this year. Because I have a permanent contract, I hear that I should be able to get a B permit for my next renewal.

My question is:

does it make a difference whether I apply for renewal 3 months before my permit expires or if I wait until the expiry is closer?

Thx!!

Re: Earliest renewal of your permit

It should theoretically make no difference - and it's your employer that has to put the paperwork in.

Our employer puts them in right at the earliest point so that if the permit is rejected for any reason, they have time to appeal before the expiry date...

Re: Earliest renewal of your permit

Ok , so I went and took the form from the Gemeinde, and my HR department signed it and told me to take it back to the Gemeinde so the process can start.

Is there anything missing?? Should my employer (or I for that matter) do something else?

Is there a real possibility of it being denied?
