Permit C - letter of motivation!!!

I'm currently in the process of renewal for my residence/work permit.

I was surprised to find that I have to write a letter of motivation describing why I want a permit C.

To be honest I'm having difficulty in finding what to write - I've already tried but to me it just sounds corny when I read it...

Can anyone suggest a good structure for this type of letter?

Is it just a formality where they see the same type of letter day in day out?

My key points would be::::::::::

Married to a Swissy

We have a 'Swiss' child together (lol)

I started work in the begining of 2003 and have been there since

The problem I have is trying to prove I'm integrated - I do have some Swiss friends, work and pay my taxes, bills etc... but I'm not the sort of person who contributes socially on a community level (clubs etc....)

- me and the family keep ourselfs to ourselfs!

Any pointers to help clarify my mind would be greatly apprieciated!!!

Re: Permit C - letter of motivation!!!

If you are married to a Swiss and have lived here for 5 years you are entitled to a Permit C automatically without having to write any daft letters. You can also apply for Swiss citizenship, unless you have two heads of course.

Obviously there's not much to do down at your local town hall. If they ask you to jump through a few hoops, tell 'em to get stuffed and just give your the permit...

Yup to all the above.... 5 ans... married the lot... lol

Still not 100% with the language... maybe that's why they are pissing me around..

Well I'd rather not create any waves, so to speak... so I'll just treat it as a formality.

Hi tonyfinn

I too, am applying for a C-Permit after 5 years, so would be really intersted in knowing what you wrote to the gemeinde.

Thanks in advance

Recently had to write one for citizenship. Of course its the cringe-making-ly obvious you are meant to write. Translated into C permit (ie green card) vs B permit temporary for non EU, this become:

"This has become my home, I am integrated into the community, and wish to have permanent resident status." in a few more words.

What more is there to say really?
