Applying for Swiss Passport!

Hi,

Iv been in Canton VAUD for 6 years and since i moved to GENEVA Canton i had to wait another 2 years.

I had been registered in Versoix Commune for the past 2 years in Geneva Canton, and now i have to apply for the passport but im planning to change the Commune to Chambesy which is 5 mins away from Versoix and apply for passport in Chambesy.

My question is, if ill move to Chambesy and apply, which commune will take a look at my papers, the commune where i spent last 2 years or the commune that i just moved in to??

In Canton Fribourg - passports are no longer dealt with and issued at Gemeinde/Commune level, but centrally.

I had to go to Fribourg (city) - Dept. d'Etrangers (I think), for my renewal.
All now are bio-metric, with photo and fingerprint done then and there.

You may wish to check for canton Geneve, if I same applies - I would guess it does.

Yep .... probably (on re-read) - just not that clear (the word naturalisation, helps).

Re: Applying for Swiss Passport!

Sarvar each Canton decides how long you must live in a Commune to be eligible for citizenship. Where I live it is only 2 years, but in Central Switzerland it can be 10 years. If you keep moving to a new commune you will never be eligible.

You should ask at your commune if you cannot find the information on Internet.

Which commune will take a look at my papers, the commune where i spent last 2 years or the commune that i just moved in to?? The Commune where you live!
