Your first port of call is at the Swiss embassy, Amman, JO. http://www.eda.admin.ch/eda/en/home/...or/embamm.html http://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home/...s_ausland.html
You have to meet up and discuss the merits of your case with an Embassy officer who will forward it to the BfM, Bern for consideration. | Quote: | | | | Asylum applications from abroad
Foreign nationals wishing to leave their native country for compelling reasons may at any time obtain information from a Swiss representation abroad on whether they would be granted asylum in Switzerland on the basis of their personal circumstances.

You can only claim asylum in the country you're physically in.
I think this smells of troll.

Switzerland and Spain are the only two countries that allow claims from abroad at the foreign missions.

I had the asylum rules explained to me at length at the British Embassy in Islamabad when I was trying to help a refugee.

You can claim assylum anywhere you want. You just have to get there. There are many Iraqi Asylees in the US.
Just remember that when you claim asylum, you don't just get a free pass to go out into the free world to explore on your own. You will spend some time in an immigration detention center, treated like a prisoner until the government can hear your case and determine if you have a credible fear of returning to your country (including the country where you have been a legal resident -- in this case, Jordan). If you are found not to have a credible fear, then you will be returned.
If you are prepared to do this, then by all means, pursue it.\

This is a long tradition of the Swiss, and only very recently by the Spaniards ( only for sexual refugees ).
Case law: http://www.ark-cra.ch/emark/index.htm http://www.ark-cra.ch/emark/2005/19.htm | Quote: | | | | 1. An application for asylum from abroad cannot be denied solely because of the absence of close ties with Switzerland. Factors that also have to be considered include the practicability and reasonability of demanding protection in another country. If there are indications of persecution of the applicant in his home country and he does not have a genuine opportunity of finding protection elsewhere, permission to enter Switzerland has to be granted (cf. EMARK-JICRA-GICRA 2004 Nos. 20 and 21 and 1997 No 15). 2. In the present case the other countries involved (Japan and United Kingdom) do not guarantee a genuine opportunity to apply for protection: Japan, where the applicant is currently residing, does not sufficiently ensure asylum proceedings that meet international standards and British law neither provides a possibility of applying for asylum from abroad nor of entering into the United Kingdom during pending asylum proceedings in another country. | | | | | Claimant was an Ugandan in Japan and won his visa to enter CH. Best advice to the OP - seek out a consular officer, and lodge your formal application.
