I was just hoping to get csome correct advise on what to do when preparing to get married with my swiss partner?
I still have my own permit to be here(been living here for a couple of years now) but just want to know what papers we should deal with when we get married/plan to get married? In terms of visas and ect.

Go to the registry office (in German this is a "Zivilstandsamt" - I don't know what it is called in French - "office de l'etat civile" perhaps?) and ask them. They will have a list of the documents you need, depending on your nationality.

Better yet send your Swiss fiancé/e to do it.

Well, a Swiss only needs a "Personenstandsausweis" from their Heimatort, which can be ordered by e-mail or internet, depending on the town (I had to order my girlfriend's via email, and mine via internet last week), takes 1-3 days to receive it, and you will get a bill for CHF 31.

For a non-Swiss, you will need to first to you local commune (where you live, not your fiance) and ask what they need.

OP, remember that in quite a few countries if you are still a citizen of another country you may need to / be obliged to register your marraige in that country as well.
