| | Housewife with expiring C permit
Does anyone know what i can do about this? My previous jobs work permit, the C permit expires this year. My contract came to an end actually last year after my maternity leave expired. I'm not in work apart from housewifery, does this entitle me to any help from the govt.? -at a guess, i think not.
main question is what do i get to prove i am a legal citizen here, i mean to replace the C permit. I'm married to a full swiss citizen since March 2010 but that doesn't entitle me to a swiss pass or ID for many years yet.

In fact, they should have sent you the papers. Does the commune have your current address?
You are not entitled to any "help from the govt" as you should be supported by your husband.

Yep, Go along and ask them to renew it. Should not be a problem as you should have already notified them when you were married and the birth of your child.
Did your H tell you he gets a monthly child allowance in his pay check?

And the C permit is the one that leads to the Little Red Book ... eventually.

As you are married to a Swiss citizen, your permit can be renewed on this basis instead of your previous vocational basis.

And the C permit is the one that leads to the Little Red Book ... eventually. | | | | | C permits are renewable, they have an adminsitrative expiry date. Entitlement to settlement is retained provided you continue to meet the criteria (resident in CH etc.)
The C permit is not the only permit that leads to the little red book if you mean Swiss citizenship. It is only important you meet the residence requirements and have a residence permit if you apply when in Switzerland. You can therefore renew as an L, B or C permit, and technically also if stateless, an asylum permit holder here long enough etc.
Although it's proposed by the SVP, it's not currently a requirement to have a settlement permit for naturalization. I have a Swiss colleague who was granted a passport before ever getting a C for anyone in his family (all third country nationals with no "right" to a C permit as defined on the Swiss govt. webpages.

Tom | | | | | Ok, don't be pedantic. It's not helpful. It was just and example.
Magyir said it better " they have an adminsitrative expiry date."

You are entitled to RAV benefits based on your previous employment. You need to apply - they will not come to you. | Quote: | | | | | main question is what do i get to prove i am a legal citizen here, i mean to replace the C permit. As the spouse of a Swiss citizen your permit renewal is a foregone conclusion.
Yet another amazing case where Swiss citizens appear to be so knowledgeable about their own regulations .

Thank you so much! You are obviously a very knowledgeable person. Can you tell me what RAV stands for and where i can ask about this? I assume though that any such benefit will not benefit my tax form?
