name change (to married name) on GB passport

Can anyone tell me if it's worth paying a lot of money to have my name changed (to my married name- married 18 month already) on my uk passport asap or can it wait?
Also my child is dual CH and GB but has the Swiss pass as we live here permanently. Is it worth to also buy her a uk passport?
Also is it worth to register my child in the uk as the embassy in Bern suggested?. Will my child benefit in future from me doing that now?

Re: name change (to married name) on GB passport

1. I assume your ausweis here is in your married name now, so probably is worth changing passport so everything matches to avoid issues later if you apply or visas, or have an officious border control guy who cant find an ausweis in your passport name

2. Not now Switzerland is part of Schengen, i don't think uk passport adds much to the swiss one (except a sense of superiority, an ability to appreciate a googly and a taste for warm beer)

3. I'm just going through that now and it seems like "belt and braces". No clear advantages, but who knows? Might make life easier some day

Not sure the rules about UK but we registered our "born in america" kids in the Netherlands, that way later in life when they need a birth certificate and we live in the Netherlands at that time we can get it from them instead of trying to get it from the USA.

It is a good idea to register your child at the British Embassy and get a British birth certificate.
