Hello - hopefully a quick question on timing of converting a Non-EU L permit to a B permit after marrying a Swiss National. Apologies if this situation is already in the threads and I missed it in my search, but I have not seen this unique question on timing with my circumstances.
A few facts:
- I'm a Canadian
- Married my Swiss husband in Canada in June 2011
- Received L permit from my employer, it expired 28 August 2011
- While going to renew my L permit (all paperwork in order), the Gemeinde processed my (spousal) B permit application - outstanding issue was getting our long-form marriage certificate (b/c we were married in Canada). As the B permit is in progress, there is no issue (work related, being in CH etc.) with my L being expired as I'm "in the system" - I have also done my B permit biometrics at the Migration office
- Received marriage certificate and sent it to Swiss Consulate in Toronto, who has now sent it to Bern (confirmed with them yesterday)
- Were told by the Swiss consulate that it should take about 3-4 weeks until Bern and then Affoltern AA have also recognized and processed marriage certificate.
Once the marriage certificate is recognized by the above levels of government, should I expect a further 4 weeks processing time to get my B permit?
Also, if I'm "in the system", would I be permitted to change jobs, or am I still bound to my current employer with my L permit? (I think I know the answer to this, no, but would be interested to hear if anyone has heard otherwise)
Thank-you in advance
