I will start this thread because I searched and didnt find anything that is similar to my case, hope you guys can help me out.

I am brazilian and Ive been living in Zürich for the last 6 months with a L permit working in a company. My visa will expire the end of September, but the company offered me an extension of the visa for more 18 months. We put together all the documentation necessary and sent to the migration office last week.

Does anyone had a similar case?
I want to know if I have good chances to get this permit and have an estimation of how long is it going to take untill I receive an answer.

Pedandic I know but what they probably offered you was an extension of your contract as they have no right to offer you a visa extension .


If this was only done last week then your company has left things a bit late. It will depend on whether the original contract was fixed term and on the type of L permit applied for and issued. As for timing, no one can say for sure - 2 to 12 weeks maybe.

Yes, was not easy to put this documentation together for the application and it was too much confusion at the beggining.
They said that I will have at least an answer next week, lets wait... Just really hope it works out, no matter how long I have to wait!
