non-EU B/work permit applications and imminent travel The following may resemble a few other recent posts, but has its own twists: I am a non-EU with a B permit due for renewal in 6 weeks. Separately from this, my university offered me a p/t job to commence in September. They applied for a work permit (10 weeks ago)- apparently, an ‘employment service’ approved of this application subject to this being approved by the service de la population. The first week of October is the latest by which I should commence my work (or else they will have to find someone else). And since no one seems to know about this process, can anyone throw any light: is this the final step or are more ‘approvals’ in order? My commune recommended submitting the B permit extension now and that the canton could merge this with my work permit dossier. The process was stated to take 1-3 months. To add to the confusion, I have to fly over to the UK in early November to attend my sister’s wedding. I will have to reapply for a UK visa, but I might (potentially) be without a physical evidence of the residence/work permit (since it takes 1-3 months for the card). Any solutions? |
