I am a non-EU person living in France on a 'carte sejour' since my wife is French. I have been offered a job in Basel and my employers are clueless about the visa type. Normally in the rest of Schengen countries, I have the right to live and work so long as my wife (French citizen) is accompanied with me. But I am not sure if the same applies for living in Switzerland inspite of Schengen. If I need to apply for a regular work permit, would it fall under the quota? If not, what other type of visa is applicable? I read on one of the posts about the type C visa. I have lived in US, UK and France for more than the last 10 years. Does this change anything? Any advise is very much appreciated.
