NonEU one year B Permit - Quitting Job

Quick question. If I quit my job and left the country temporarily, will my B Permit be immediately invalid?
If not, how long will it remain valid? Can I leave the country and come back within the period it is still valid?

I'm thinking about leaving for 2-3 months. I might not come back, at which point I think I have to "de-register". I am trying to see if this is possible.

What is written on the back of the permit?
If you 'leave' you have to hand it in.

there is nothing like that on the back, there is a section that says: Anmerkungen...with a ZEMIS code...

Re: NonEU one year B Permit - Quitting Job

I am a non-EU citizen with a B permit, and when I received it at the Migration office for my canton (Luzern), the authority there told me that my permit was linked to my employer. If I left my employer, a new application for a B permit would have to be submitted in my name, either by new employer or by me.

Which canton are you in? You may want to check with the Migration office to see what their rules are as things seem to vary from one canton to another.

Look on the very back page it starts like this...

"Diese Aufenthaltsbewilligung gilt für die ganze Schweiz...."

Also, opposite your photo page it will say..

"Aufenthaltsbewilligung gültig für die ganze Schweiz bis (and then the date here)

The website of Kanton Solothurn has the following (which should apply to the whole country):

http://www.so.ch/fileadmin/internet/...o_3Staaten.pdf

6. Auslandaufenthalt

Essentially, your B Permit gets revoked the minute you deregister (and do not apply for registration in another Canton/Commune) or if you leave the country for more than 6 months (short term visits to Switzerland like vacation or medical visits do not reset the 6 month clock).

Why are you talking about pages??? I think most of us have a credit-card style ID card.

I went back to my visa authorization letter and I didn't see anything about residency permission being subject to continuation of employment. However if permission to reside in Switzerland is subject to being employed then it stands to reason that one should not expect to stay employment is not had, especially if it comes time for renewal and you no longer have a sponsor.
