Hello Everyone,

I just accepted a transfer within my company from Chicago to Zurich. I'll be getting into the visa application in the next few weeks.

I've heard that it can take anywhere from 2-3 months, or even longer during 4th quarter. Does anyone have any experience with this. I'll be considered a local hire.

Your company should do everything for you. You just sign somewhere.

As it's towards the end of the year most places are low on permits for non-EUs so it could take some time.
I'm under the impression you may get an 'L' permit whereas normally you should get a 'B' permit with a permanent position. That said, you may get a B permit from the off.

Does this affect visa's as well? I'm applying for a long stay visa - I was going to apply in October - is it best to wait until December? Does this mean things start fresh from the start of the year?

No. There is no quota system in place for visas.
