Or (worst case scenario) doing the long distance thing for a while, apply ad nauseam until you find a job, and try to learn the language from wherever you are.
Make no mistake, it's not just Switzerland by the way - my brother is moving to the US for a post-doc position next year, which will last for 3 years minimum, and he wanted his girlfriend to go with him (they lived together already for a year and were perfectly fine without the "piece of paper" - marriage contract). Well, they basically "laughed" at him and told him there was no chance it would happen for the visas, etc. so they got married last August - easiest solution IMO, especially if you plan on doing that anyway sometimes down the road. | | | | | Oh I know what you mean! I really was laughed in the Swiss embassy when I asked about joining by boyfriend without being married. When I told my boyfriend what happened he got really weird and seemed to think Im trying to corner him into it. That really wasnt my intention and him thinking that hurt my feelings pretty bad so I never mentioned marriage again |

Take a walk by the lake in Geneva during peak tourist season and you'll see all sorts of things happeing. I saw on more than 10 occasions people getting robbed and I have been offered to buy drugs countless times while jogging around the lake. When it comes to vandalizing I saw trash cans being kicked, deliberate littering, spraying walls. I saw a few fights... I dont know where you live but Geneva isnt as safe as people think. | | | | | Why would you want to live there then? I wouldn't. But hey, I only living in Geneva center for 2.5 years and never saw any such thing. How long have you been in Geneva to see 10 people being robbed?

Because your argument is that it isn't fair that you can't get a visa when these many criminals can? | Quote: | | | | | Oh I know what you mean! If it can't be openly discussed, it might be a mistake.
Back to your question - from what country are you? And what about your BF?

Ive been coming and going to Geneva since 2009. I am always there in the summer when there are loads of tourists around and I live right infront of the fountain and often walk or jog by the lake side right in the center of the city. I also have a friend working in a shop near Gare Cornavin where these thugs meet every day to exchange what they've stolen. You can walk into the shop for milk and get offered to buy a laptop or iPad... Its crazy and sad but unfortunately true.
On the other hand my step-brother lives in Zurich for 5 years and he never saw anything like that happening there...
Could be a coincidence but I have no reason to make things up. That wouldnt help me with my problem would it?
And the main reson I want to stay in Geneva is cause my boyfriend lives there and I want to be with him. My lifestyle in Geneva is better than in my own country in many ways but no I dont feel safer there.

I dont think marriage is for us. I myself feel I am too young for that. And doing it for a permit seems so desparate.... And if we are both unsure then putting that kind of strain on a relationship cant be good. Id rather come and go like I do now.
Anyone thanx for the advice, Ill see what I can do with the info you guys gave me!
Thanx!
