I have an independent B-permit, open contract (with no time limit) with a multinational company here and I still pay quellensteur. I am in ZH, CH for past 4 years.

I just thought if I can buy a house here? since I am already paying good some for rent every month.

Yes you can...there are some obligations; you can not rent it to 3rd party, you can not sell so on.. and if you have to leave the country, they payback your downpayment minus the bank's interest so far.

My friend just bought one, but I gotta tell you that prices are already hitting the sky. I read on the newspaper that housing prices are already 20% more than 2 years ago. But nobody knows how long it will last for.

So I suggest you to make an appointment with a bank credit services, they can provide you all the answers to your question marks in your mind.

Depends very much on the area. Please remember that in CH you normally can't have a mortgage for more than 80%. Do you have 20% of say 1.5 mio for Zurich area available?
