| | Aussie son leaving home ( with a C permit ) - tips needed
My son is leaving in a week to head back to Oz. He has been here for 14 years. Living on a C permit. Just read about asking for a 4 year option to return if he is out of Switzerland for more than 6 months. So is there any more tips out there I can give to him, to get him out of here and maybe back again one day. As I am also here on a C permit. His mother lives in Oz. Thanks .

Ha Ha....... sorry mate, I have no idea.
Personally, I think he'll be back to see Dear-ol-Dad before you know it. This is the only place I would look for the correct answer.
Best of luck

He just needs to go to the commune and tell them he is leaving for a few years but intends to come back. They may give him 2 years at first and then he can extend for another 2 or he may get 4 in one go. That's it though. Four is the max.

As your son, I assume there are ways to get him back into the country, possibly difficult, if need be but....he's 20 and you need to let him go and make his own mistakes if that is what this turns out to be in the end. We've all done our share of dumb mistakes and, well, it's time he earned his own as hard as that is to let a child you've raised do. I have a 4yo going on 15 myself and I already know that by the time she's 12 I'll be immune for my own survival on such things. If they put this stuff in the parenting brochures, the human race would have been extinct millennia ago. | This user would like to thank poptart for this useful post:

My son just turned 6 and he now wants to stay here until he is 13 so he can become 'swiss'... so cute and such a turn around from wanting to go home as soon as we got here.
I would strongly recommend that he gets citizenship before he goes. He doesn't have to do anything with it. But when he does come back to see you in 5 years or so it will make life just one bit easier.
And it might help with the 'ladies'... fancy accent, flashy passport... etc. Australians love the Swiss, even though some don't know where the country is... | This user would like to thank robyn.oz for this useful post:

He is back in the land of the Kangaroos. App for a 2 year extension and got it. Cost 67.40chf. With an option for 2 more if he has a good reason.
ABWESENHEITSBEWILLIGUNG. (Artikles 61, Absatz 2.) AuG.
