Hi

I am from India. My husband is working in Switzerland on L permit.
I have a dependent visa and will be traveling shortly to Switzerland.

Can I apply for jobs there and work on dependent visa?

Thanks

Re: Can I work on dependent visa?

Hi Tarveen,

There are a number of other posts about this in the forum - take a look. In short, a visa lets you in the country and then you get your residence permit (in your case, an L, as that is the same as your husband). With a dependent L permit, you will not be able to work unless you find a company willing to hire you and apply for a work permit for you. Hope this helps and good luck.

Re: Can I work on dependent visa?

Thanks for your reply guys..

Just 1 more question..
Do usually companies file work permit for you?
Is it very difficult to find jobs in Switzerland?

I have done Masters in Economics and have 5+ years of experience in Analystics ( Finacial Services).

Please advice.

As i understand it, the company applies for a work permit for you if they want to hire you. And it is difficult to find a job in Switzerland, but it depends on your background and skills and how much those skills are in demand. I don't know much about the financial services industry, but I hear Switzerland has some banks and things, yeh? Good luck.

No. It is difficult to get a company to file a work permit for you.
Yes. It is difficult to find jobs in Switzerland, particularly if the company will need to file a work permit for you.

But I wont' say it's impossible. Just be prepared for it to be very very difficult.

You are Greek so you don't have this problem. Companies don't get permits for EU (Old). You have to go get it yourself.
