Dumb question about my B permit

Hi all! My husband is EU and therefore we both have B permits that are valid for 5 years. Am I allowed to work on this permit as well (I am a US citizen)? I think the answer is yes, but I just want to make sure. I have done bunches of searches, and I am really just looking for affirmation

Thanks in advance! I am thinking of testing the ol' employment waters and just want to make sure I am not assuming something that isn't true!

look on the permit - it will tell you if work is not allowed or restricted

so is that in the fine print on the back? Otherwise, it says Aufenthaltsbewilligung gültig für die ganze Schweiz bis ... and EG/EFTA B.

I am used to the ones in Germany where the Arbeitserlaubnis and Aufenthaltserlaubnis aren't one in the same, and I don't see anything else except on the back it does mention something like I don't need permission to change jobs, I think.

Edit: so if I don't see something saying no work allowed, it is? Thanks!

You need to check the Aufenthaltszweck. It's at the bottom half of that same page.

aha! Mega big thanks! I saw the Auftenthaltszweck, but the fact that the writing below it was the same minute font, I ignored it as the other entries were in bigger font or bold! It does say "Familiennachzug. Brechtigt zur Erwerbstätigkeit"

Thanks for the help. I will now stop being blond for the day! Or at least try...

Re: Dumb question about my B permit

It's not really a dumb question. It's amazing who is allowed to work here in Switzerland.

I was amazed to read on my son's B permit that he is allowed to work here. He's 12 now but he was only 10 when it was issued. Perhaps that's how Switzerland got to have so many tunnels. Maybe even now there are thousands of kids beavering away underground helping to create new roads.

The dumb part was I couldn't find the line on my permit where it gave the information!

Now if I could only get my 3 kids working for me, that would be a start, then they can work for CH. Sure enough, they all have the same status as me, even the 2 1/2 year old!
