Family friend from Mexico coming to visit for summer...what does she need?

Hi,

Our children's ex-nanny is coming to stay with us for the summer. No, she will not be a nanny, as I have the summer off since we are moving for my wife's job. However, she is just finishing college and we are very close...also she has friends throughout Europe she would like to visit. So our house will be her home base as she spends time there and then traveling and then back to us again It appears she needs the following:

a) Proof linked to the purpose of the trip:

- In case of visit: invitation from family or friends.

b) Proof linked to the financing of the trip. Is taken as the basis for calculating an average cost of CHF 100.00 per day (about 74 euros a day, according to the price of the euro when traveling). - International credit cards / debit cards. - Travelers checks. - Cash.

c) European international health insurance (minimum coverage of 30,000 euros, valid for all Schengen states).

d) Flight ticket back and forth.

It is b and c that I need some help. Where can she get the health insurance for the summer? Also, she doesn't have (100*90 days) 9000 swiss francs. She doesn't need that much since she won't be staying in hotels. Any advise?

Thanks in advance.

a) Yes. A letter of invitation should do.

b) A friend of ours needed to show she had 100CHF per day she stayed in Europe in her bank account in order to get the visa even though she was staying with friends and thus not paying hotels.

c) She will need to have travel insurance. This is not difficult to find. The embassy gave our friend a couple of company names.

100 euros a day may sound like a lot but if she was staying in a hotel she would need a lot more than that!
Perhaps it depends on the length of stay?

I wonder if we provide a letter stating that we would be providing room and board would suffice and maybe make 100 CF/day a smaller number?

No. It will not help. And don't forget that if the person can not show they have a life to go back to (family, work, property, etc) they could be rejected as a potential overstay threat. So not having the ability to save this money is seen very much in a bad light.

she is a college co-ed
you are very close
your wife will be working.

I see a very bad romantic comedy in this. "Swisslish" or something...
