US/Romanian Citizen - Self-employed

Hi all,

I am a dual US and Romanian citizen, currently consulting for a Swiss company in the US.

I have the option to continue consulting from Basel and I would like to do it as a self-employed consultant. The Swiss company offers me the work for at least 1-2 years, so searching for work is not an issue.

I understand that EU citizens can work as self-employed in Switzerland, although Romanian citizens seems to not be considered "fully EU" based on what I've been reading. Alternatively, I haven't found much about self-employed US citizens working in CH.

I am not sure if for the work permit I am required to incorporate a CH company, use a US company or none at all. Although for taxes, it will surely matter I guess.

I would appreciate if anyone can shed some light and suggest the best routes to take.

Thanks a lot!
