I got L-permit from Zurich canton as my employer based in Zurich. Now my employer sends me to Geneva for 2 years because of long-term project. The question is will it be legal for me to rent apartment and live Geneva considering that I have permit from Zurich canton. The company will be still based in Zurich.

hi, the permit is where you live not where you work. so if you move to geneva, you should get an approval from canton geneva to have the permit there. or you stay living in zurich and keep the same permit. a bit too far i know

It might depend on the type of permit. Sometimes if they're tied to a job you can only live in the same canton that you work in. Check with either your HR department or the cantonal authorities.
