Re: Work permit expires within the period of unemployment benefit. Can it be renewed?

Unemployment benefits is an insurance mandated by law.
It is not really social security, meant to kick in when insurance payouts run out.
(pls correct me if I am wrong)

Docs and info from websites are not binding, especially English texts.
Ask the office themselves if you want crystal clear. Bring a translator or a lawyer.

Forummers here provide best of their knowledge info for free. Kindly take note.

Does unemployment benefit belongs to the concept of 'Social security' here? If yes, than it seems for those who will receive this one as income of life will not get permit renewed if expired. Is that what you mean, fatmanfilms?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go back & read EXACTLY what I wrote in answer 6 & 10 of this thread.

Unemployment benefits are NOT SOCIAL SECURITY benefits.

As mentioned earlier I think it's a launguage issue, your not really understanding what is written here & you just ask the same question again & again.

yezi, no, unemployment benefits = insurance, unemployment benefits (as fatmanfilms mentioned before) are not the same as social security, where one becomes burden on the taxpayer... if there is any chance to get your permit renewed before you get your notice, this is what I would do if I were you..

If you used the search function you would discover the same question has been asked many times. The unemployment office are your new employer & will apply for a new permit on your behalf.
Fanmanfilms, how about this you wrote in the very beginning? I am sorry that my English is not good enough to understand this complicated enough issue for me...

Let me put it this way: Will I be kicked out of the country once my permit expires EVEN THOUGH I still have the unemployment benefit.

This is my last question. Thanks for putting up with me!

Re: Work permit expires within the period of unemployment benefit. Can it be renewed?

Must be that I was too nervous and panic last night while reading the replies...

I think I get your answer clear now, Fatmanfilms. It is Yes to my question, of course unless I committed a crime or something.

Thanks alot for your help!!

Dear yezi
Why do you not just ask this specific question to the unemployment office, quoting your info and get the news from the horse's mouth?

I believe the answers are already provided here. But the crux is with the unemployment officer. Not us here.

Hope you calm down and think about next steps.
Take care.

The person who you speak to wont have any idea, & will not want to give an answer even if they know!

Everything should just work out fine, I know several other non EU people who were in the same situation. Their permits did get renewed & they still live in CH.

I was told by my first RAV advisor that I would be thrown out of the country if I did not have a job in 90 days, I had a 'C' permit at the time!
6 years later , still here & still registered with the RAV!

I work short contracts on & off, never been an issue. I requalify for RAV every time as I have always worked at least 18 months over the previous 24 months. I speak to the RAV in English as they have refused to send me on a German or French course, I was told I would have to do a course as my German was A1.

I somehow feel compelled to share my experience with RAV (Zurich city)

- both advisors were very polite and spoke very good English to me and offered to send me to German coursed as soon as I begin to draw on the benefits
- I was told that my permit would be renewed if I start receiving money from the enemployment funds (I was being paid from another source when I registered)

I have had 7 advisors, 6 were very good. The first was extreamly bad & nasty. The 6 good ones were all team leaders, after I complained about the first one.

Yezi,
If you have worked in Switzerland for at least 12 months in last 2 years from (wrt first month of unemployment), then you should definitely get unemployment benefits. My experience with RAV in Bern has been quite good. Even though I couldn't get some documents(couldn't get 1 employer certificate and couldn't transfer my employment benefits from DE to CH because I am non-EU), I had all proofs (AHV statements and salary slips) to show that I worked atleast 12 months in last 2 years in CH. Finally they started paying me last month.

So you should not worry about that, instead start looking for a job. Maybe you will never need to goto RAV.

The person assigned to me by RAV has given me some time to look for job and in case I cant find it by the July end, they will put me in 4 months Deutsch course. As my L work permit expires in September, this means if I cant find a job by July end, I will certainly have to request them for renewing my L-permit by August.

For now I am focusing on getting a job. I will bother about renewal in August I think.
