Dependent Visa for Lausanne

Hi,

Sorry to create a new thread. But I became bound to do this as I couldn't find any useful info on this.
I'll be arriving at Lausanne on 1st July. My L12 Work Permit is processed and visa is also delivered.
While applying for the work permit and visa I mentioned that my Wife will be traveling with me and her documents were submitted just yesterday.
Now, Lausanne may have different policy for Work Permit and Visa Processing.
I was asked to submit documents required for Visa Stamping even before I was approved the Work Permit.
Upon getting Work Permit approval I had to submit documents for Visa Stamping all over again.
Just a few point to add -
#1 - Our marriage certificate is already Legalized.
#2 - My Work Permit approval letter is attached with my wife's documents.
#3 - I came to know from a senior of my organization (and the only person with dependent at Lausanne from our company) that no approval came from Vaud canton for her wife's visa processing. The visa was stamped after the documents were submitted (no specific approval came for her).
#4 - Her documents were submitted to VFS, New Delhi yesterday.

Now, can any of my EF friend shed some light on this topic?
Will my wife has to wait for an approval letter or her visa will be stamped directly?

Please provide some info about this.
Thanks!!

Hi,
Situation might have changed now, but a couple of years back, I had to arrive here w/o my spouse, get the actual permit, sign an apartment rental contract etc. Apparently the actual permit , rent contract and latest payslip were considered important piece of document to get an approval for spouse to come over. All in all it took 8 weeks for my spouse to join me and let me tell you , luckily that was when things went smoothly. Not to discourage you , but getting an approval nowadays, as heard, is between 8 - 10 weeks.
Wish you good luck but am not too sure if your spouse can travel along with you.
Cheers

Did you arrive Lausanne or Zurich when you first went to Switzerland?
For Zurich, getting a permit is really hard till now as I know. But I got my Work Permit in straight 22 days (incl. weekends).
I heard that things differ canton-wise.
And my question mainly focuses on Vaud canton.
BTW, my wife's visa status is showing "Processed Application for the applicant has been released from The The Embassy of Switzerland,DELHI on 20/06/2012.Please collect the same from the VFS Switzerland Visa Application Centre where it was submitted."
Can you please let me know what can it mean?

That means you need to visit the VFS aplication center where you submitted your wife's application for visa. A package is waiting for you there.
It's a sealed envelope so you only know once you have opened it :).
In best case, it would be your wife's passport with a visa sticker.
Good Luck !!!

Hello,

I've already reached Lausanne. But my wife will be travelling later. We're waiting for her Approval letter from Lausanne authorities.

Welcome Aboard !
I hope your spouse is able to join you soon.
That's the normal process that I know of, as mentioned in my first reponse as well (I really don't know of any case where a couple was able to travel together - specifically Non-EU dependent visa cases).
Arrange your house contract and Permit Card at the earliest as they would be needed for your spouse approval !

BTW, what does your approval letter say. Are you here on
-4 months stay (L) OR
-1+ year stay (L) OR
-1+ year stay (B)

I'm on L12 permit.
Residence card application is already done.
And for my wife, she'll only need 1 more copy of visa form and 2 photographes to get her visa stamped once her approval comes.

Re: Dependent Visa for Lausanne

This is my plan. I hope it works out. My husband got a job offer so I applied for Dependent Visa even though he didnt start working yet. I submitted his employment contract and apostilled marriage contract. I was informed that the approval will take 3 months so inorder to travel with my husband next month, I will use Schengen Tourist Visa. After they send cantonal approval, I will courier my passport to my sister. She can then go to the embassy together with a Special Power of Attorney and submit it in my behalf. It takes 2 days to stamp the visa. Afterwards she will courier me my passport. I hope my plan works. I will update later.

Re: Dependent Visa for Lausanne

Then you'd better hope the information you were given is correct, because it can take longer than 3 months. If it does take longer then you're going to have to leave Switzerland anyway.

And what if you have to be interviewed by the embassy staff back in your home country? You won't be there so will have to travel back again.

As mentioned earlier he may need to show a property rental contract as one of the conditions for granting a dependent's permit is that the property is big enough for both of you by Swiss standards.
