Applied Swiss Tourist VISA For Parents in Delhi. They want a garrenty form

Dear All,

I have applied for a tourist VISA for my parents from the Swiss Consulate in Delhi via Thomas Cook. The passport case back and they put the application on hold. They have given a form to be filled up by me and submitted to the local population office with similar documents I have already submitted (Bank Statement, Salary Slip, Poursuite etc.).

I have checked with my colleagues here and nobody had this issue. So I would like to understand if anyone else had the same situation or not? Is this very normal?

It is written in the form that I have to take responsibility of up to 30,000 CHF in case of any problems. But is not really clear if they want to see 30,000 CHF in my account or not either.

On top of that, they have 200,000 USD insurance each. So why do I have to provide guaranty of 30,000 CHF for 45 days of stay?

The whole thing is a bit strange to me. So I would like to understand if this is normal and happened with few others or I am one of very few in a strange situation?

Thank you very much in advance for your reply.

Cheers & Regards
Avisekh

I looked into a friend of mine from Mexico visiting here and I read in the Swiss Embassy Webpage in Mexico that a 50,000 chf guarantee was required. I guess this is how they make sure that nobody comes here to visit and then stays indefinitely. I wish you well on bringing your parents over to visit.

It is normal. I have seen this white form ( guarantee ) issued by the local Gemeinde of the "sponsor". A Sri Lankan in Zürich invited his aged parents to come over. He had to enclose a fresh copy of his Betriebungsauskunft ( Poursuite ), original last 3 salary slips and the Steuereinschätzung ( Tax Assessment ).

The travel insurance has to be taken out with an insurance company which

Re: Applied Swiss Tourist VISA For Parents in Delhi. They want a garrenty form

Thank you Simeon and jrspet for your response. What I understood by reading the document in the link is that you should have at least 100 CHF per person per day in the bank and you are obliged to at most 30K CHF of liability. I have signed the paper and I do have the required amount in the bank as well. So hope there will be no issues. I will keep you posted on how it ends.

I may be slammed again for saying this.

Different people from different countries are assessed differently by different cantons and different people who are authorized to give different visas.

People from my home country need no visa to visit CH. But when we go to Tunisia, we had to pay a bribe to get the visa. Go figure!!!

I have several Indian friends here, they go through that same as you. be patient.

Thank you for your reply. It is good to know that I am not the only one floowing this process as I didn't find anyone around. May be because all of their parents came here before and my parents are coming for the first time.

Rules may have changed but in 2004 most CH residents had to put up CHF 20K as guarantee and sign documents irrespective of the country they were inviting people from, assuming of course that the people invited needed a visa to enter CH.

Re: Applied Swiss Tourist VISA For Parents in Delhi. They want a garrenty form

Went thru same procedure for my parents a month back. Took the form to local city hall who passed the form on to Laussane who take the final decision for Vaud canton. No bank statements were asked from me and my parents had taken insurance of 500k each. Over phone explained to Laussane office on this and they processed the application and forwarded the documents on same day to embassy as my parents were flying out of country early next morning.
This is the first time i ever had to give a declaration of sponsorship.
You will have to check with FOM in Basel on their decision.
More details on this form are available on
http://www.bfm.admin.ch/content/dam/...-grueezi-e.pdf
and also you can check out http://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home.html

This form is not always required but then it depends on embassy.

Cheers

Re: Applied Swiss Tourist VISA For Parents in Delhi. They want a garrenty form

Dear Simeon,

I have a B permit.

Dear All,

Thank you very much for all the information. I have submitted the document last week to Vevey population office and they have promised to dispatch it to the concerned authority on the same day. I guess it is Lausanne. They said that the process will take 4 to 6 weeks. This may be because there are 7 weeks of time for my parents to arrive. So I will not rush on this yet. I will way for couple of weeks and then contact Vevey population office to know where exactly they send it. Once they confirm that they have sent it to Lausanne, I will contact Lausanne.

Thanks again for all the information.

Have a nice day.

Cheers & Regards,
Avisekh

Re: Applied Swiss Tourist VISA For Parents in Delhi. They want a garrenty form

Dear All,

Today I have received a letter from Lausanne saying that they have done the required actions from their side.
Now it is back with Delhi again. The travel agent asked for a copy of that document to resubmit the passport. Lets see how many more days it take.

Thank you again to all of you for the information.

Cheers & Regards,
Avisekh
