Student visa (Scholarship)

Hey there, I am a non EU/EEA citizen. Not USA, Canada or Australia. I was granted a 33,000CHF scholarship to study in Geneva. Out of this grant, only 18,000CHF goes towards my living costs for 12 months (this is clearly stipulated on the acceptance letter, 1500/mois). It has been about 8 weeks since I applied for an entry visa, my application is still pending.

I was concerned that the authorities may think the amount is not enough, last i check for the Zurich the expected amount was 21000CHF. Is it possible that I would be requested to show more income or at the very worst have my visa request denied because of this? should I be worried?

Re: Student visa (Scholarship)

Oh, just a note. I am not at all concerned at the obviously small amount. Just to save the '*shock* how can you survive on that amount' speeches.

I have already found cheap accommodation (500CHF), and the school has arranged for cheap student health insurance (86CHF). I just need to know if the amount is considered 'sufficient amount' in Swiss immigration standards.

Oh well, update: Visa granted. Took about 11 weeks, all the worry was for absolutely nothing.

Re: Student visa (Scholarship)

hi, im in the same situation as you were before. i would like to ask for any advice how you managed to process the student visa? I also got a scholarship from the local government in Philippines, do they need to transfer the amount immediately to my account before i start the visa processing or I only need to show a letter that they will pay for the full scholarship while studying? did you also provide your personal bank statement to the embassy apart from the scholarship? any information would highly appreciated. thank you.

Re: Student visa (Scholarship)

Hi, it is now quite a long time ago but I don't remember submitting any additional documents. Just a letter from the scholarship stating what they were going to give me.
