Second time renewal of Permit B - sending back by post only.

Hi, I have received the file for renewing my permit B which is going to expire in 3 months. I am Non EU.

As this is the second time of renewal, they collected already my finger print last time. They just asked me to send back this form with employer's signature and stamp, tax paid proval and copy of passport.

They also wrote ' votre ancien livre et des documents utiles ( www.ge.ch/sec). I am not sure they mean the copy of Permit B is enough or I should send back the original one??

Also, in the website, there is a list called M4. Shall I ask HR also to fill it up and send back together?

Thanks for your advices!!

Send the ORIGINAL permit, they have a copy already in their system, also send the form. If they want something else they will ask.

In The German speaking part, I never had to return my Ausweis ( permit ). Just pay up and wait for the new one and travel in the interim with the current ( unexpired ) one.

I have always had to return both C & B permits whilst the paperwork was being done.

Re: Second time renewal of Permit B - sending back by post only.

I have had booklet B, non-biometric B, then biometric B and now a biometric C ( all non-EU ). Not once had to surrender them, and still have them all.

Re: Second time renewal of Permit B - sending back by post only.

New procedure - we are in our fourth year, Non-EU, Adliswil, Zurich Canton.

Forms came in the post. Took whole family to local Gemeinde, they viewed our current (due to expire) cards and took copies of our current passports. Paid the fee.

New cards arrived by registered post, less than 2 weeks after we went to the Gemeinde - We definitely didn't have to send in our old ones.

We were very impressed that we didn't have to go to the migration office and have all the photos etc renewed..

Edited to add: like jrspet we've never had to hand in our old ones in order to get the new ones, like you say, that makes no sense if it then means that we can't travel during the renewal period (I even re-entered Switzerland with an expired card permit, a letter to say the permit was 'approved but not yet issued' and my Aussie passport. Tense moment where the Cantonpolizei / Immigration control was tossing up whether to make a problem of it...

Re: Second time renewal of Permit B - sending back by post only.

I think it makes sense not to return the current original one. Last time I didn't have to either. And while my permit expired yet new one still not arrived. I went to OCP to ask for a return Visa as I had to go out of Schengen then. All done efficiently.

How about the additional form from website? Or just to fill up the one they sent by letter is enough? Thanks!

Re: Second time renewal of Permit B - sending back by post only.

Like Swisspea said, there is a new system.....

Just renewed our non-EU B permits in Fribourg - much quicker since they have put in the biometric permits (and renewal was a bit cheaper than the initial price of the biometric one too).

I was told that yes, you must send in the original permit, not a copy....to avoid this (I needed to travel during the renewal period) I took the forms back in person (even though it said to post them). They checked my permit, photocopied it and gave it back. Did the same with the passports and job done.

Just fill in the form they sent, nothing else needed.
